Summary:
125 people, including Rosenwald school alumni and former teachers, historians, preservationists and educators gathered at the UNCW Executive Development Center in Wilmington, NC for a one-day conference. The conference raised awareness of Rosenwald school history, provided information about resources for preservation, and marked the opening of the new Rosenwald School archive at UNCW's Randall Library.

This one-day conference featured historians Tom Hanchett (Museum of the New South), preservationists Tracy Hayes (Rosenwald Schools Initiative, Southern Office of the National Trust for Historic Preservation) Claudia Brown (NCSHPO), Angelo Franceschina (RIPI), George Edwards (Historic Wilmington Foundation) educators Donyell Roseboro (UNCW Watson School of Education) and Marvin Pittman (NC State Board of Education), as well as a panel of Rosenwald school alumni and former teachers moderated by Monica Gisolfi (UNCW Dept of History).
